SADDAM'S WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION LOCATED.

In what is going to become it's Waterloo blunder, the U.S. Intelligence Community, in particular the CIA "suspects" it has finally located Saddam's WMD.

Most every other U.S. enemy Intelligence Agency in the Middle East was aware that Saddam had made a deal with Syria to store his WMD's in Lebanon; specifically in the heavily fortified Valley of Bekaa. This fortress valley makes it basically an impossibility for the U.S. to retrieve the WMD's, unless they are ready for mass murder of U.S. ground troops. The U.S.'s mighty air superiority is useless in any retrieval operation. The Bekaa Valley is filled with Iranian & Syrian forces, as well as Hezbollah and Ex-Iraqi Agents.

The worst news for the CIA is that the CIA identified a stream of tractor-trailer trucks moving from Iraq through Syria into Lebanon in January,2003 ,several weeks before the official start of the war on March 20th. The significance of the tractor-trailer sightings DID NOT REGISTER as anything out of the ordinary within the CIA at the time.

The public does not need me to tally up the disastrous results that have unfolded in Iraq because of this oversight within the CIA.

Saddam's WMD's in Lebanon.

U.S MILITARY DEATHS SURPASS END OF WAR, MAY 1st., TOTAL: 139th. DEATH TODAY. HUMBLE ARROGANCE IS DESPERATELY NEEDED.

Two other U.S. soldiers were also wounded in the attack that killed the 139th. U.S. Soldier since May 1st.

U.S. Soldier Makes An Arrest In Khalis.

There is not much one can say except another prayer for this murdered soldier.
The U.S. can make as many arrests as they want in Iraq, round up as many "gang" members as they wish; but U.S. soldiers will still be killed. Iraq has become the focal point of every Terrorist Nation Coalition Force that exists in the Middle East. We are fighting on their home turf and are losing U.S. lives almost daily.

What is needed is "Humble Arrogance" on the part of the U.S. Administration in Iraq. One of the first rules of Humble Arrogance is that we could be wrong , in this case in how we are dealing with the people of Iraq.

The U.S. Administration in Iraq can change the fixed timeline (read:Agenda) that they are following and they must. Lt. Gen. Abizaid knows exactly what is needed: Not More Troops, but a tremendous amount of HUMINT (Human Intelligence).

U.S. Deaths Surpass War Total.

ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE NOT DEMOCRACY WILL BE THE BASIS OF THE NEW IRAQI CONSTITUTION.

As of today, Iraq is a theocracy and will stay so as it has for over 5,000 years. Currently, there is a bitter rivalry between two Iraqi Shi'ite Clerics, each vying for control of the 60% Shi'ite population in Iraq.
The two rivals are Sheikh Muqtada al-Sadr and Sheikh Mohammed al-Yaqubi. Sheikh al-Sadr, who comes from a long line of religious leaders, is a young, militant leader of THE theocratic movement that dominates Shi'ite politics.

Immediately after the end of the war was declared in Iraq he took over the al-Rahman mosque located in Baghdad's upper class al-Mansour district

al-Rahman Mosque

As you can see, this mosque is far from being finished and an eye sore throughout Baghdad. Rival Sheikh al-Yaqubi made his debut on the political scene at the Friday prayers of April 25th. where he spoke from his mosque, al-Kadhim, where tens of thousands of his followers chanted: "yes, yes for the hawza natika. The hawza natika are the "outspoken" (read "revolutionary") members of the Shi'ite Academies or Schools. With this appearance he established the Fudala organization (which means "the generous ones") in Najaf. Fudala is now located in the gutted mansion of Najif's former Saddam-appointed governor.

You can read the whole political story below courtesy of atimes.com , but a crucial point to be made is that Sheikh al-Yaqubi has declared the United States the Muslim equivalent of the Antichrist.

So, the Bush Administration has totally alienated the Iraqi population that now sees us not just as occupiers, but the entire United States as the Antichrist. We fit the description to a tee: an omnipotent entity with incredible powers that claims to be god (in this case, occupiers) and demands followers. You can figure out the rest of the Iraqi Sheikh rivalry by clicking below. It gives a tremendous insight into the way the political structure in Iraq runs.
Not at all democratic, but theocratic.

Iraq vs. The Antichrist.

"THE U.S. IS AT OUR MERCY. ONE LEG CAUGHT IN AFGHANISTAN AND THE OTHER IN IRAQ. ALLA-ho-AKBAR!"

Thus announced "Professor" Hafeez Mohammad Sayeed, the head of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) , while addressing a religious congregation earlier this month at Muridke, near Lahore in Pakistan. It is the headquarters for this terrorist group and contains a mosque and a guest house constructed with funds given by Osama bin Laden. LET is now coordinating practically all the jihad worldwide since rumors have it that Osama bin Laden is incapacitated, but alive.

Aug.19th.: Thick smoke billows from the UN Headquarters in Baghdad. 16 Dead in today's truck bomb attack.

Back to the Guest House ,mentioned above, which housed not only Osama bin Laden, who built it, but also many of the terrorists involved in the September 11, 2001 strike on the U.S. Now the Guest House is one of the places reportedly being readied to put up another famous guest, Saddam Hussein. But how can he get there with all the might of the only Superpower left on earth hunting him down with everything available on the ground, in the air, sea, and in space?

It's not all that difficult, apparently. LET has a series of clandestine routes through Iran. These routes are the same that have brought at least 80-plus jihad-hardened terrorists from Pakistan into Iraq. These terrorists are the ones mostly responsible for the current spate of killings of American soldiers in Iraq. They are highly trained and obsessively motivated to eliminate the American presence from Iraq.

A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter drops water on the blazing oil pipeline sabotaged 2 times last week. This pipeline is the financial lifeline for Iraq.

And lets not forget the words of the Army Private who identified himself as Isaac Kincade, in my Blog of August 13th., who posted on the internet: "We are outnumbered, we are exhausted. We are in over our heads." What else can one say? Not much. What the U.S. can do, though, is change a strategy that has not worked for over 100 days since President Bush declared the war over on May 1st.

Iraq: U.S. Must Change Strategy

IRELAND'S 10,000 PUBS TARGETED BEGINNING MONDAY, AUGUST 18th.: INTOXICATING LIQUOR ACT OF 2003 TAKES EFFECT.

Again, the Middle East is put aside for a few moments.

As Europe was breathing a sigh of relief from the three week record breaking heat wave this past week, Ireland's Justice Minister Michael McDowell, perhaps the most unliked man in Ireland today, signed an order to introduce the "Intoxicating Liquor Act of 2003."

This Act targets the 10,000 Irish pubs that are the heart of Ireland's social life. Happy hours and drink promotions are banned as of Monday. Closing times for pubs on Thursday will be moved up one hour from 12:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. This, I surmise, is to make sure there are less "sick" days on Fridays.

Irish President Mary McAleese backs the Act adding that Ireland's attitude toward drinking is "unhealthy" and "sinister." Let's see how long she stays in office. Loyal Irish pub frequenters are surely studying their Laws to see if the Act can be "recalled" a la California Grey Davis model.

Justice Minister McDowell defends his actions of this past Thursday saying "(The law) demonstrates the determination of the Government to urgently address the public-order and public-health worries arising from excessive alcohol consumption (in Ireland)."

On top of this new Act aimed at drinking, Ireland is less than five months away from the Government also banning smoking in pubs. The Government has come up with polls that purportedly show that 41% of drinkers in Ireland smoke.

What's an Irishman/woman to do? Let's wait and see. I'm 100% certain that the Irish pub establishments will find their way around the Intoxicating Liquor Act of 2003.

Ireland's Social Life Targeted.

IRAQ'S TRUE WAR STORY: TOLD BY U.S. TROOPS VIA THE INTERNET.

Inflatable "tombstone" in front of U.S. Capitol bearing names of soldiers killed since war officially declared over on May 1st.

An unprecedented Internet campaign exposing the real risks for U.S. troops in Iraq is being waged by the U.S. soldiers themselves. Through chatrooms and e-mails the troops are telling a story of being outnumbered by opposition forces in Iraq and repeatedly telling how the military campaign in Iraq is badly mismanaged.
The use of the Internet , unavailable in any previous wars, by troops paints a vivid picture of U.S. Army life that is a far cry from the sanitized official version.
"We don't feel like heroes any more," posts a person identifying himself as Private Isaac Kindblade, "Somewhere down the line, we became an occupation force in Iraqi eyes." He continues, brutally frank in his message home, "the rules of engagement are crippling. We are outnumbered. We are exhausted. We are in over our heads."

The main outlet for these complaints is on retired Colonel David Hackworth's website. Col. Hackworth was the youngest Colonel in Vietnam and one of the Army's most decorated warriors. Over 500 e-mails a day are being posted on this site with complaints ranging from bad treatment at the hands of their own officers to fears that their equipment is faulty.

On top of these daily complaints is another: The Bush Administration's decision to reverse recent increases in "imminent danger" pay and a family separation allowance.

As I posted yesterday the first 100 days in Iraq for U.S. forces has been hell on every front for these soldiers, even while on their own bases in Iraq.

Internet 's Unsanitized View of Iraq War.

100 DAYS AFTER PRESIDENT BUSH DECLARED THE END OF COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAQ: AT LEAST 55 AMERICAN SOLDIERS KILLED.

U.S. Soldier Fires AT4 Viper Anti-Armor Weapon

My Ref: Blog of Tuesday, June 17th.

More than three months after President Bush declared the end of combat operations in Iraq, U.S. forces are struggling to control the violence in Iraq. Most of this violence has been concentrated in the Sunni Triangle, which includes Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit.

Ambassador L.Paul "Jerry" Bremer III, the U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, in an understatement of the year, said that "Iraq is not as safe as it must be."

Iraqi people talk of broken U.S. promises concerning restoring electricity, of not paying salaries promised to many Iraqis, and very little potable water. Even the Iraqis are now too afraid to walk their own streets at night.

In the Sunni Triangle Iraqis have had it with the U.S. military's insensitivity to their traditions and the aggressive home searches by U.S. soldiers that has impugned on their privacy and their dignity. Many Iraqis are now openly deriding the U.S. authority for giving them only a few hours of electricity a day, and the inability of American forces to stop criminal activity. One thing, the Iraqi people say, is that under Hussein crime was punished swiftly and brutally.

One Iraqi, 62 years old, was reading his Koran at home when his son was killed in his front courtyard, then the American soldiers burst into his home pushing his entire family on the floor and handcuffing them. This Iraqi citizen speaks for many others that have received the same treatment at the hands of U.S. forces when he says " What do you expect us (Iraqis) to do then? Be friendly to America? They treat us like animals. We have a right to kill them (U.S. soldiers)."

The U.S. is defending its tactics in the region which arouses more intense anger from the citizens.

One big mess 100 days after the end of combat operations as declared by President Bush.

100 Days Later.

IN ITALY, LA DOLCE VITA IN SUMMER TURNS INTO DIVORCE.

Putting the Middle East aside for a few minutes, Europe's record breaking heat wave continues during the month of August. In Italy, the country that made La Dolce Vita part of the English vocabulary, it is not exactly the fun filled moments as depicted in Fellini's movie by the same name.

Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg aside, summertime in Italy is the time for: Break-up Italian Style.

"It's not the heat, but because couples spend more time together," said Maretta Scoca, a family lawyer in Rome.
Ms. Scoca was speaking from a beach in Sardinia with two cell phones by her side. "I'm constantly on call, like a doctor."
"They (couples) can scrutinize the reasons they don't get along and blow them out of proportion. So most people want to split up," Ms. Scoca concluded.

The divorce rate in Italy has been slowly creeping up in recent years as summer becomes bust-up season.
Italian lawmakers are in tune and are trying to make the difficult divorce laws easier and faster. The new bill in the Italian legislature would reduce the period of legal separation before divorce proceedings can even begin from three years to one.
The final vote on the matter, though, has been postponed each month since March.

But, of course, the wealthy have their own divorce strategy called: Divorce Tourism. "Anyone who can afford to can go to another European country and set up residency there. In six or seven months they can file for divorce and have it recognized in Italy," says Cesare Rimini, a Catholic family law expert.

Break-Up Italian Style.

MAURITANIA CANCELS SAUDI MILITARY AID.

Mauritania Caravan of Dromedaries near Nouakchott, the Country's capital/Impact Photo

This small North African Country, with a population of only 3 million, has the Chutzpah, for lack of a better word, to kick Saudi Arabia out of its country after having military cooperation with the Saudis spanning nearly 20 years.

Map of Mauritania.

President Taya, who was elected in 1997 for a 6 year term with 91% of the vote, has decided to cancel Saudi aid after a failed coup by Islamic insurgents linked to Riyad. The officers who participated in this past June's failed coup attempt had been trained in Saudi Arabia.

The President looked at the evidence and made a simple, logical decision: No More Saudi Military Aid.

This is a country with a GDP of $5 Billion and external debt approaching $2 Billion. Their annual expenditure on the military is only $38 Million. Naturally, they need the "grant" from Saudi Arabia for military training. They will tough it out, though, without the Saudi blood money.

Congratulations to President Taya, who oversees a 100% Muslim population, for having the fortitude to suffer the certainty of further Saudi sponsored coup attempts because of this action.

FBI OVERHAULING ITS COUNTERINTELLIGENCE TACTICS TO CATCH 21st. CENTURY SPIES.

FBI headquarters photo courtesy of FBI.

The world wants what America has, from cutting edge computer software to scientific research and sensitive defense technology. And nations and overseas companies are increasingly using espionage to get it. The James Bond spy of old who saves the world destroying the likes of Goldfinger has, effectively, disappeared. The new, improved spy of the 21st. Century is directing all his efforts at corporations, research centers and universities.

The FBI now has two fronts to defend the U.S. against: Preventing Terrorism and Neutalizing the improved spy's corporate espionage activities. The Agency strongly believes there are more foreign spies than ever before operating in the U.S.

China is the greatest espionage threat to the U.S. currently and for, at least, the next 10-15 years. The Agency believes China already has more than 3,000 "front' companies in the United States whose sole purpose is direct espionage efforts a la 21st. Century spy. Russia,Iran and North Korea also have significant corporate espionage units already set up in the U.S. Even our so called "friendly countries," such as Taiwan and India, have become as great a threat as nations unfriendly to the U.S.

The modus operandi of 21st. Century espionage in the U.S. ranges from finding out where, for instance, an aerospace company produces gyroscopes for satellites to socializing with a U.S. nuclear research scientist in hopes of gaining scraps of information from him. In one recent instance, a company estimated its loss at $50 million after a spy sold its company secrets to a Taiwanese conglomerate.

To meet this quick growing challenge the Agency has transferred 167 agents to counterintelligence and set up an anti-espionage operation for the first time in its history in each of its 56 field offices.

Purely to blame, FBI officials acknowledge, is that after the collapse of the Soviet Union catching spies was considered a dead-end for FBI careers. Its clearly catch up time at the Agency for another threat to America's security.

21st. Century Espionage

PUTIN MAKES HISTORIC VISIT TO CLOSED CITY.

Russian President Vladimir Putin celebrated Russia's spiritual history and its nuclear prowess Thursday.

In the closed city of Sarov, about 250 miles east of Moscow, President Putin was warmly welcomed by Russian Orthodox Church leader Patriarch Alexy II and joined other pilgrims in celebrating the 100th. Anniversary of the canonization of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

The last Russian leader to join the orthodox Church in honoring St. Seraphim of Sarov was Czar Nicholas II.

"Today's celebration is possible thanks to the rebirth in Russia of religious , spiritual freedom," Putin told thousands gathered for the celebration of the saint's canonization.

It also gave a rare glimpse behind the barricades and gun-toting guards that keep this city of 80,000 closed to all foreigners and unauthorized visitors.

Sarov happens to be also the home to the Avangard Nuclear Weapons Plant, which was the most prominent Russian nuclear weapons facility.

President Putin spent many hours with prominent nuclear scientists and said Russia "must and will remain a great nuclear power."

Historic Visit.
