In an overwhelming defeat to the political arm of the militant Irish Republican Army, Sinn Fein on Thursday had any hopes dashed when a hard line Protestant was elected mayor of Belfast, according to METRO, the world's largest global newspaper.
This election shows a growing distaste for Sinn Fein and its operations. The total election tally gives the Protestants 25 and the Catholics 22 members on the governing council in Belfast.
Further, the Times of London reported this week that the IRA was responsible for the biggest bank heist in history, US$90 million, and has been heavily fortifying its arms cache. A IRA ammunition dump recently discovered had more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition.
These findings put much in doubt that the 12 year peace process and the more than 400 year old war with the U.K. will end soon.
IRA WELL FUNDED AND ARMED.
